Paradise Valley
Paradise Parlor

The Humboldt Museum's Paradise Parlor tableau depicts life in turn-of-the-century Paradise Valley, Nevada, once a thriving agricultural and mining center with over 2,000 inhabitants. Featured items include a church organ, Victrola, and a dress once owned by Edna Purviance, who hailed from the town, and went on to co-star as Charlie Chaplin's leading lady in many films of the silent picture era.

Edna Purviance

The Humboldt Museum has a collection of Edna Purviance memorability, including several photos, one of her dresses, several Charlie Chaplin dolls, and a can of "Theater Fire." Purviance, who grew up in Paradise Valley and Lovelock, went on to become Charlie Chaplin's regular co-star, during the era of silent pictures.
